New Boat Ramp Signs Help Anglers and Boaters Prevent Invasive Species

White Bear Lake, MN – Wildlife Forever, CD3 Systems, and FishBrain announce a new digital platform to aid boaters and anglers in preventing aquatic invasive species. The Check-In & Check-Out (CICO) WebApp provides a fast, user-friendly tutorial on how to self-inspect and clean watercraft before and after launching by hand. New access signs are available to help educate boaters and anglers, along with a free membership to Fish Brain and Wildlife Forever when used.
“The Check-In & Check-Out platform is another innovative, user-led tool to help educate the importance of checking and cleaning watercraft for invasive species,” said Zach Burnside, Invasive Species Manager of Wildlife Forever.
With QR code-driven signs users can select their type of watercraft, follow easy-to-use graphics, guiding them to check known AIS hotspots on boats, trailers, and equipment. The free platform supports the national Clean Drain Dry campaign and complements state and federal recommendations for preventing the spread of invasive species.
“We built this free platform to help resource managers educate and engage the public on preventing AIS,” said Mark Apfelbacher, COO of CD3 Systems.
Supported by FishBrain, an online community network for fishing and boating information. Anyone who uses the Check-In & Check-Out platform will receive a complimentary 1-month membership to FishBrain and an annual membership to Wildlife Forever, a leading outdoor organization dedicated to conservation.
