New Anglers get Hooked by Getting Families Fishing & Boating Initiative®
White Bear Lake, MN – The national Getting Families Fishing & Boating Initiative® (GFFB) Future Angler events have reached over 8,000 youth and adults this year and is quickly becoming a model program supporting youth angling. Future anglers and families benefit from the program where through a simple grant process, civic clubs and organizations can apply to receive free fishing equipment and conservation educational materials for events that teach fishing and boating skills. “Through the Getting Families fishing and Boating program we often gift a person’s first rod and reel. It’s humbling to be part of that process knowing a person’s first rod & reel leads to their first fish. From there, it’s a pursuit of life-lists ranging from different species caught to lures and equipment. Any angler will tell you that fishing is a collectible sport that drives a lifelong connection to outdoor adventure and creates cherished memories,” said Pat Conzemius, President & CEO.
The Getting Families Fishing & Boating Initiative also features an incredible array of best-in-class boating safety educational materials developed through Discover Mediaworks and Into the Outdoors television program. The free content is available at Safe-Boating.com
Wildlife Forever will be attending the ICAST show in Orlando, Florida, July 15-18 to promote partnership opportunities with the Getting Families Fishing & Boating Initiative ®along with legacy programs such as the Art of Conservation Fish Art Contest® and national campaign on invasive species, the Clean Drain Dry Initiative™.
