A plan to reintroduce desert bighorn sheep to the Devil’s Backbone area in New Mexico received some refreshing support from Wildlife Forever – in the form of three 3,000-gallon fiberglass water catchments. The lack of water was identified as the primary limiting factor to establishing a bighorn population in the area, so the water catchments were flown in by helicopter to three strategically chosen areas. The project is part of a larger program targeting the eventual recovery of the desert bighorn in New Mexico.
