Wild turkey enthusiasts in Delaware have seen the numbers of these majestic birds increase thanks to support from Wildlife Forever. Approximately 15 wild turkeys were obtained from another state and released in western Delaware at a location that was not populated by wild turkeys. The release was coordinated by the Delaware Division of Fish and Wildlife, which deemed the area suitable habitat for wild turkeys. When the population has grown to a sufficient level, the area will be included in the annual lottery for turkey hunting permits.
