Fish Migration Art Award

New for 2020! The Fish Migration Award is a new World-Wide award created in partnership between Wildlife Forever and the World Fish Migration Foundation.

Artwork will be judged in two grade (age) categories k-5 (5-11 years old) and 6-12 (12-18 years old). Winners will be announced on World Fish Migration Day, May 16th, 2020.  Winning artwork will be highlighted at the World Fish Migration Day Celebration in the US.

Steps to Enter the BOTH the Fish Migration Award AND the State-Fish Art Contest:

 

1. Select a North American Species from the Official Fish Migration Species List.

2. Utilize the State-Fish Art Lesson Plan, Swimways Poster, Sea to Source Book, Fish Base and other written and online reputable sources to learn about your fish species. 

3. Read through the Rules & Guidelines to be sure your artwork and essay will qualify for the contest.

Optional: Look at Judge’s Wisdom & Inspiration for advice and examples of previous art and essays.

4. Create your State-Fish Art and Fish Migration Award Entry consisting of two parts:

Part A
One original HORIZONTAL 9″X12″ ART ILLUSTRATION of your selected North American fish species from the Official Fish Migration Species List.

Part B
A personally written essay (ONE SIDE OF ONE PAGE) relating to their chosen fish species, its behavior, habitat or conservation issues and/or needs.

 

5. Complete a contest Entry Form (International entries have separate Entry Forms) and affix the form to the back of the artwork with a clear glue stick. Be sure to mark that you are entering in the “Fish Migration Award.”

6. Mail your entry to the address listed at the top of your Entry Form before March 31st. **International entries should be sent in through e-mail. Please include a scanned image or photo of your Artwork, Essay and Entry form and send to info@WildlifeForever.org

Judging occurs on Earth Day (April 22nd) and winners of the State-Fish Art Contest are announced the first Monday of May at StateFishArt.org. Winners of the Fish Migration Award will be announced on World Fish Migration Day, May 16th, 2020 at StateFishArt.org. 

State-Fish Art Entries that has placed 1st in its age category will be held onto so it can be displayed at the EXPO in August.

1. Select any fish species from the Official Fish Migration Species List.

2. Utilize the State-Fish Art Lesson Plan, Swimways Poster, Sea to Source Book, Fish Base and other written and online reputable sources to learn about your fish species. 

3. Read through the Rules & Guidelines to be sure your artwork will qualify for the contest.

4. Create your Fish Migration Award Entry consisting of ONE part (there is no essay required for the Fish Migration Award):

Part A

6. Mail your entry to – Wildlife Forever, 5350 HWY 61 N, Suite 7, White Bear Lake, MN, USA 55110-2473 – before March 31st. **International entries should be sent in through e-mail. Please include a scanned image or photo of your Artwork and Entry form and send to info@WildlifeForever.org. Artists from AK, GA, TX, and MO that are ONLY applying for the Fish Migration Award should use the STANDARD entry form,  judging for the Fish Migration Award will occur at the Wildlife Forever Headquarters.
