Former Vikings Team Up With Wildlife Forever For Kids Education
Minneapolis, MN --Wildlife Forever and former Minnesota Viking Jack Brewer came together on Friday, July 14, 2006 to raise money for children's education with a celebrity bass tournament on Lake Calhoun, Minneapolis.
Both Wildlife Forever and the Jack Brewer Foundation are involved in education for children. Wildlife Forever is a national leader in conservation education, while Brewer's recently formed foundation focuses on helping inspired students and over-achievers in underprivileged situations go further in life.
"We see this partnership with the Jack Brewer Foundation as a perfect fit," said Douglas H. Grann, President and CEO of Wildlife Forever. "Through role models like NFL stars, our 'Time Out For Wildlife' events provide opportunities to spotlight careers and volunteerism in support of our country's natural resources. Teaming up with a great organization like Jack's is a 'win' for everybody, especially the kids."
The fundraising tournament included an array of NFL players from around the league including former Minnesota Viking Michael Bennett. It was Bennett's fishing team of amateur angler Don Kirckof and pro angler Gary Lake that won the tournament with a basket of 5 bass weighing 19.14 pounds, almost a 4-pound average per fish.
